2018 WRAP UP! - (12/28/18)

HERE COMES THE NEW YEAR, EVERYBODY!

2018 is quickly coming to an end, and that means it is time for another yearly wrap up from OverbyNetworks (as well as another NEW YEAR'S EVE LIVESTREAM ON 12/31)! Overall, this year was... fairly interesting. We ended the year off with less than 50 videos, something that I am actually fairly disappointed about. I would have liked to produce more content, but here's hoping that 2019 will hold more in store. Let's get into the recap...

SO WHAT HAPPENED THIS YEAR?

The biggest thing to happen this year was our content shift from Let's Play videos to focusing solely on our podcasts and episodic series. This was a decision that we had been grappling with at the end of 2017 and into the beginning of 2018, where we finally reached our verdict in April on the website and May on the channel.

In 2018 we started the No Views Podcast! We haven't really stuck with the whole every Saturday schedule, but we're going to hit that much harder in 2019. I'm looking forward to what... fun... discussions will come out of it.

Also in 2018, I (Haeden, if I didn't mention it earlier) became way more active on my Twitch channel. In lieu of not being able to produce as much content as I would like, I've taken to streaming to be able to do something fun and creative with my time between videos. I'm streaming on there more frequently, and am beginning a new Steins;Gate 0 play through on there as of this being published.

We also released our most viewed skit to date, "TURN AROUND." This is a skit that our entire team is proud of, and it was nice that we were able to produce a skit even after scheduling conflicts got in the way of the larger skits we planned. If things go to plan we'll be able to produce more content like this in the coming year!

We got our new website! We got the domain of overbynetworks.com and were able to revamp our website! We'll be looking to keep updating the website and maybe even switching hosts in the coming year, but for now we'll be up to business as usual here!

We held another AMAZING Great Shave Debate! This year's production was a great step up, and we had multiple guests feature on the program. I'd like for us to utilize the platform we created for this year's debate in some other projects of ours, so we shall see how that goes!

In MISSING news, Season 4 was finally moved into production and principle shooting was able to be completed. We still have voice actors who need to send in their lines and some editing to do on the footage that has already been shot, but we are doing our best to have Season 4 produced before Summer 2019! In the meantime, we were able to produce the MISSING Christmas Special and publish it on Christmas Eve! It turned out great, and we are very proud of it.

In conclusion, the sacrifice that we made of our Let's Play content has already led us to some of my favorite videos we've ever produced on the channel, and I'm remaining positive on the change to our content line-up. 2018 was far from our best year, but we've been able to grow and learn throughout it.

SO... NOW WHAT!?

Immediately, look forward to 2018's NEW YEAR'S EVE LIVESTREAM! Hosted of course on the main channel, the stream is looking to start on 12/31 in the evening if the schedule goes according to plan. This will be our sixth annual stream, and we'll be playing our favorite games, talking to our great friends, and ringing in the new year in classic OverbyNetworks' fashion!

Long term, we're hoping to finally finish Missing 4. Feels like we say this every year... but at least in 2018 we actually made progress! The return of Fraction's Fandoms is arriving whenever the new Dragon Ball Super: Broly Movie comes out in theaters across the U.S. to celebrate the release! The series should be staying around after that, most likely going back to an every other week schedule as it did previously.
I'm going to continue to stream more on Twitch, but as everyone is growing up in OverbyNetworks we have gotten very busy. I'd like to be producing content daily on Twitch or YouTube but schedules and situations just don't allow it as often as I would like. Here's hoping we find more ways around it in 2019.

We've had so much in development behind the scenes that we just cannot talk about yet, but I'm hoping that we will have many things to entertain you with in 2019.

THANK YOU GUYS FOR READING, WE'LL SEE YOU ON NEW YEAR'S EVE! -Haeden
