VALVE PULLS HATRED OFF STEAM GREENLIGHT UPDATE: IT'S BACK UP

THE CONTROVERSIAL GAME HATRED HAS BEEN PULLED OFF OF STEAM GREENLIGHT. UPDATE: IT IS BACK UP

Steam Greenlight is the home of many developing games, and is an easy way to get your game known. Hatred was put on Greenlight not long ago, but Valve's Doug Lombardi says that they will be taking it down. Why would Hatred get pulled off Steam Greenlight, but not other violent games like Far Cry 4, Grand Theft Auto, and Postal? Not much is known about why it was taken down, although it seems the game was just too violent. Hatred was developed by Destructive Creations and was set to release in Q2 of 2015. Destructive Creations is obviously not shaken since they seem to be using the "gain popularity through controversy" strategy to gain recognition. Hatred could have been a good game. Hatred could have been a terrible game, yet society won't give it a chance. We hope that Hatred will resurface on another publisher, and trust us, it will, but the real question is this: what does this mean for Steam? Will game developers be discouraged by seeing a game taken down and be in fear for their own? Is Steam itself going for the "gain popularity by controversy" strategy as well? Many websites are talking about Hatred, so it won't be hard to find information regarding this game. Hatred is currently trending, so trying to take away popularity by removing the game has obviously failed to work.
